Born January 24, 1809. Son of (unknown) and Mary Smith, she born about 1770 in Mass. Married Mercy Gwinn Loring in 1838. See tree above for children. Came to area in 1840. Died October 30, 1900 (obituary)

Mercy Gwinn Loring

Known as Mary. Born July 30, 1815, in Salem, Mass. Married George E. Smith in 1838. Died January 12, 1900, at age 84 years, 5 months, 13 days (obituary).

Susan Dale

Also known as Susannah. Born August 18, 1839 in Salem, Mass. Came to Illinois in May, 1840. Married David J. Minto May 20, 1869(?). He was born October 22, 1841 in Ontario, New York and came here in 1843. Children. Died March 13, 1914, at age 74 years 6 months (obituary).

George E.

Read biographical sketch written in 1877.

Born in 1842 near Antioch. Civil War service. Married Susanna G. White about May 31, 1870. She was born in Antioch in 1852. Children: Bertie, born in 1872, died at age 3 years and nine months. Moved to Otis, Weld County, Colo., in November, 1885. Died October 26, 1915, in Denver, Colorado.

Hannah L.

Also known as Annie. Born April 13, 1845. Married Nahum Lamb, of Gurnee, in January, 1911. Moved to Los Angeles, California.

Abbie C.

Born on January 11, 1849, at Millburn. Married Andrew J. White on May 5, 1871. Children: George L., born February 15, 1872; Frank, born June 8, 1875; son; daughter. Moved to Lyons, Neb. Died January 8th, 1901, of pneumonia (obituary).

Ella M.

Born about 1852. Married William Stedman about May 11, 1871. Children. Moved to Elgin, Illinois, in 1881. Died in December, 1908, at her home, of pneumonia.

Rev. Theodore L.

Known as Thad. Born about 1855. Moved to Chicago, Ill. Called to Nebraska. Later lived in Bonaparte, Iowa. Married. Children: Howard.
